(2/8/26) Public Statement: Forensic Audit Report
The City of Lake City has received the final forensic audit report commissioned by City Council. City staff, the City Attorney, and City Council will review the report to ensure it is complete and free of any sensitive or confidential information prior to public release.
The full forensic audit report will be released to the public on Tuesday morning through the City’s official communication channels.

The forensic auditor has informed the City that the final report is on track to be completed and delivered by this Friday afternoon. We appreciate the community's patience and will share more information once the report is in hand.

City of Lake City Operational Update – Tuesday, February 3


Based on improved weather and road conditions, the City of Lake City, South Carolina will resume a full day schedule on Tuesday, February 3.
City Operations
All City of Lake City offices will be open and operating on a normal schedule.


Sanitation Services
Monday's Route will be Picked up on Tuesday
Tuesday's Route will be Picked up on Wednesday.
Residents are asked to have carts out as usual.


Public Safety
While conditions have improved, residents are encouraged to continue exercising caution while traveling.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this weather event. We appreciate the efforts of our public safety and public works teams in helping ensure a safe return to normal operations.

Statement from the City of Lake City
The City of Lake City is aware that criminal charges have been filed against a former Lake City Police Department officer related to an incident that was previously referred to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
The individual was placed on unpaid administrative leave, stripped of police authority, and later terminated in accordance with City policy and state requirements. The matter is now under the jurisdiction of the appropriate prosecuting and investigative authorities.
Because this is an active criminal case and involves a personnel matter, the City will not comment further at this time.
The City remains committed to accountability, transparency within the bounds of the law, and public trust.
