Youth Programs

Y.O.U.T.H. Intervention Program

The City of Lake City's free Y.O.U.T.H. Intervention Program to provide structured activities and pathways to success for the youth of Lake City. 

LC YOUTH logoThe Y.O.U.T.H. Intervention Program, or Youth with Opportunities Unifying & Transforming Humanity, was developed through a grant awarded by the Office of Highway Safety and Justice Program in 2022. The goal of the program is to redirect and mentor youth within our neighborhoods and communities.

Under the umbrella of the Y.O.U.T.H. Intervention Program, the city and the Lake City Police Department have sponsored several opportunities for Lake City youth, including scouting, explorers, Esports, and more.


Girl Scouts

Sponsored by the Lake City Police Department, the Lake City Girl Scouts Troop #2722 formed in April 2022 for girls in grades K-12. Troop #2722 meets every Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Lake City United Methodist Church on Main Street.

Recreational Sports

The Lake City Department of Recreation & Tourism offers several youth sports programs: 

  • Fall - Tackle football for ages 7-12 and cheerleading ages 6-14
  • Winter - Basketball for ages 8-17
  • Summer - Baseball and Softball for boys ages 4-14 and girls ages 4-15

The recreation department also sponsors annual special events for children ages 12 & under and children ages 10 & under, including: 

  • Festival of Frights on October 31
  • Easter Egg Hunt in the spring
