[ARCHIVED] Fire Department Earns 4th Consecutive Fire Safe Designation

Council Presentations - July 2025 - 23 Fire Department

The Lake City Fire Department was formally recognized during the July 8 City Council meeting for earning the 2024 Fire Safe South Carolina Community designation. This recognition marks the fourth consecutive year the department has received the prestigious statewide honor.

The designation, awarded by Fire Safe South Carolina (FSSC) and its partners, recognizes fire departments that go above and beyond in community risk reduction, data-driven prevention strategies, and life-saving education efforts.

“We are incredibly proud of the Lake City Fire Department’s continued commitment to protecting and educating our residents,” said Mayor Yamekia Robinson. “Earning this honor for four straight years is no small feat. It is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of every member of the team.”

The recognition places Lake City among an elite group of 207 fire departments statewide who achieved the designation in 2024 according to a release issue by Fire Safe South Carolina’s Community Risk Reduction Program.

To earn the designation, fire departments complete courses to increase their Community Risk Reduction efforts, document opportunities for public education, and work with partners to address risks in their community.
